Personal Response

This is about the womens rugby with FIJI vs NZL as it was streaming live in Tokyo.  The Olympics was meant to be in 2020 but because of Covid-19, this global event was postponed due to the nasty outbreak.  Looking at the  clues in the short thriller or video clip between  NZ’s - Black Ferns women's rugby team against FIJI at the Olympic Sevens.  This is pretty cool because both teams had to work harder to win as they tied 11-all at full time.  I think the mood of the players would have been very nervous at the time because they were unsure of the outcome.  After the extra time of 5 minutes, the Black Ferns came through with a win.  I can relate to this game because I love sports and also play a little sports myself. And if I was one of these women then I'd probably get nervous as well because you never know what is going to happen.

 Initial Impression:
I was nervous for Lisa Carrington because when the rowers started to row their canoe Lisa C was all the way at the back so I thought to myself that she may not make it ahead of her competitors.

Response:
While watching the full media clip,  I saw that she was picking up the pace.   I instantly regretted what I said and started cheering on Lisa C.  I can connect or identify with Lisa because she is competitive and she never gives up.  She has pride and resilience which are some values I’m learning at school. I think it is very impressive that Lisa Carrington won a gold medal from this event.  Also, I read that she is NZ’s first woman to win 3 gold medals in one Olympics games.  And I wouldn’t change anything about this race.

Teacher Comment:  Impressive thoughts based on the Olympics media clip. pp.
